Software Engineer - Java & Linux/Unix environment (Burnsville, MN) - Compensation: DOQ in Burnsville, Minnesota

Telvent DTN is looking for a highly qualified Software Engineer that will use proven software engineering practices to enhance the suite of Telvent Environment display and service applications. These browser-based and mobile applications allow for users to customize their weather display, data, and patented alerts to locations of interest around the world.
Responsibilities include:
? Design and implement robust software for business weather user communities in the areas of display and alerting.
? Analyze, troubleshoot and propose changes to improve system performance and architecture
? Support operational department and production systems when needed.
Requirements:
? Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required; additional training, education, or certifications are a plus.
? Minimum 5 years relevant work experience, with a proven history of operating in a full software lifecycle and being a catalyst for software engineering process improvement.
? Experience with Linux/Unix environment, including build tools, debug tools, data analysis tools, etc.
? Significant experience in performance tuning, application scalability and application caching
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
? Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
? Strong team player, with ability to interface with Product Management and other groups and disciplines to meet company objectives.
? Operational experience with Java, struts, and tiles.
? Experience with the Agile Development Model is preferred.
? Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and associated server data access through Hibernate.
? Familiarity with Weather Data and Aviation Data is a plus.
